The project
When Facebook Messenger rolled out new product features, the brief was to make them instantly understandable inside the context people actually use: the chat thread. At the time, Messenger reached 1.3B monthly users, making it one of the world’s biggest messaging platforms.
To demo features like event/reminder utilities, appointment confirmations/reminders, and location sharing, we reimagined classic fairytales as if they unfolded through Messenger, turning product moments into story beats.
We created Messenger Tales, a series of vertical, mobile-first videos built around Messenger conversations. For example, to showcase reminders, we turned Cinderella into a chat with the Fairy Godmother, where Cinderella sets an event reminder to leave the ball before midnight, because even magic needs a calendar. And in Romeo & Juliet, Juliet’s “Wherefore art thou, Romeo?” becomes a modern punchline when Romeo replies by sharing his live location.
